The Seventh Step CRF is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by four full-time Caseworkers, two Overnight Caseworkers, several casual staff and managed by the Residence Team Leader. Residents and CRF staff are supported by the Outreach Worker and the Community Services Coordinator to identify and assist with further needs of the offender. All staff work closely with Correctional Services of Canada as well as many other local community agencies to provide the best aid for successful reintegration of adult federal male offenders.

FULL-TIME CASEWORKERS:


The Alberta Seventh Step Society employees 4 full-time Caseworkers and 2 Overnight Caseworkers. Our Community Residential Facility (CRF) provides a supportive environment for the successful reintegration of offenders into the community. Staff work directly with Correctional Services of Canada to monitor compliance with offender conditions, in addition to Calgary Police, and many other community agencies.


RELIEF STAFF:


Job duties and requirements for relief staff mirror that of full-time Caseworkers. Relief staff are expected to have a range of shift availability on weekdays, weeknights, weekends and holidays. The Seventh Step CRF is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operation and relief staff are essential in the support of full-time staff and the smooth operation of the facility.


SEVENTH STEP STAFF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • A Degree/Diploma in Human Services and/or experiential knowledge of the Criminal Justice/Self-Help process is preferred
     

  • Eligible to obtain Federal security clearance in accordance with Correctional Services of Canada
     

  • Posses a working knowledge of computer usage (e.g. Microsoft Word, email, etc.)
     

  • Standard First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain in a timely fashion
     

  • Ability to document and communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing
     

  • Ability to monitor safety of staff, residents and facility and take action as required
     

  • Ability to create positive change relationships with residents and be clearly aware of professional boundaries at all times
     

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment to develop solutions to arising issues or concerns
     

  • Capability of physical demands to perform CRF walkthroughs and live wellness checks of residents along with room inspections and searches
     

  • General house keeping duties and chores
