Heather Stockall

Board Chair

Heather joined the Board in 2005 to assist with the new board structure and to better understand the needs and requirements of a non-profit organization. Her goal in life is
to help others and believes that everyone deserves a second chance to live a healthy and contributing life.

She has a Teaching degree but has spent most of her career in various levels of human resources in the corporate world.

Jim Hope-Ross

Vice-Chair & Secretary, Governance Committee Chair

Jim is a retired lawyer previously specializing in Aboriginal Affairs and Public Interest Democracy. Jim joined the Board in 2018 and believes in the worth of the individual.
Jim feels that once someone has accepted responsibility for his actions, expressed a desire to be free and understands the ways to achieve this, he deserves our support. The Seventh Step pledge is a mantra for the ex- and would-be-offender that all of us should live by.

Andrea Czinkota


Andrea joined the board in November 2020 and believes that individuals deserve a second chance, especially when it is something they put their mind to achieving.  Being a part of an organization that supports individuals to help themselves, brings Andrea joy and fulfillment, as they becomes responsible members of the community.

Bernard Pitre

Director, Chair of the Fundraising & Outreach Committee

Bernard has been with the Board since 2011 and through his career with Corrections Canada he has seen positive results from offenders/ex-offenders helping each other reintegrate into society with the support of the Alberta Seventh Step Society. Bernard has a Masters degree in Criminology and is now retired.

Ellen Campbell


Ellen joined the Board in 2018 bringing with her a B. Comm and an MBA. She has a desire to give back to the community and help the board out with her extensive financial experience working for the City of Calgary.

Mick Cawthorn


Mick has been involved with the Alberta Seventh Step Society since the mid 90’s, both as a program participant while incarcerated and since his release. Having had first hand knowledge of the program and its benefits to those re-entering the community, Mick is a lifelong supporter and contributor to those in need of the Society’s help. Mick is currently the Board Chair of the National Seventh Step Society of Canada.

Julie Douglas

Julie has a Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Lethbridge, majoring in Addictions Counselling. Julie joined the Board in 2015 as her passion lies within helping others, especially those who are in need the most. Joining the Board has allowed Julie to bring her experience and help those in crisis.


Heather Priestley

Director, Chair of HR Committee

Heather joined the Board in 2018 as she has extensive academic knowledge studying Criminal Justice and Corrections in University and felt it would be a good fit. Heather is currently working in the corporate human resources sector and has a strong volunteering background.
